APQ Tone it down QAL - Blocks seven and eight

Whew!  I've done blocks seven and eight now, as well as finished the flimsy for my sister's husband.

Here are blocks seven and eight - I'm not sure which is which, as I am piecing two at a time, to save a bit of time.  I'm linking up with Lee for WIP Wednesday.  Check out everyone's WIPs!  http://www.freshlypieced.com/2014/02/wip-wednesday-semi-wordless.html

This one's a bit the same as some others

The circle is much more prominent that the cross on this one - never mind.
All eight blocks so far
Pictures of the flimsy will be in my next post.  I'm trying to find some 505 basting spray in Brisbane, but it seems rather difficult to do.  I might have to pin baste once again, as the stuff they sell at Spotlight simply doesn't work.

APQ quilt along - blocks five and six

Sorry about the rotten colour.  My camera likes to dull everything down, especially at night.

WIP Wednesday and a Friday finish

Percy's back

Whoo hoo. I finally finished quilting and binding the peacock quilt last week. This weekend, I gave it a wash and............ colour bleed from the orange!!!!!! Washed it again with Dylon Runaway which mostly, but not completely, worked.
This one will be off to Canberra next week.
Proud Percy

My other finish was a rag rug for the back landing, made from op shop sheets. I've already started another one with the rest of the sheets, but these colours don't go with anything in the house. They do seem to work with the peacock!

WIPs that I'm working on are a lap quilt for my sister's husband (with their dog Fred on the front)

Pattern from the Quilters' Cache website

Two WIPs and one finish

and the APQ Tone it down QAL. I've managed three block so far. They are very time consuming and I think the cutting takes longer than the piecing! No work has been done on my low volume squares quilt, even though it has as little purpose as the APQ QAL. Perhaps it is because it is boring piecing.

Block three - See the photo above Fred for all three finished blocks

The black lab applique is from the Quilters' Cache free block patterns at http://quilterscache.com/AlphabetizedListPageA_F.html I think the muzzle is too thick for Fred, but it will have to do.

Anyway, off to do more block for the QAL. Happy Wednesday and Friday.
